Digital Nomad List
So you want to be a digital nomad! Your job is remote and so you can travel, but you need screen(s) to do your job. Here’s a list I created after a year of traveling around the world.
Here’s a list of things I’ve used and loved throughout my international year of travel.
You’ll see things have a few themes.
Multi-purpose. Having things is great, but carrying and storing things is a pain. Make sure everything works for multiple uses or is super worth the price.
Small. Every ounce or gram matters when you’re on the train or plane.
I have linked to Amazon items I use and like, but of course there are others that could do the job cheaper or better depending on your needs.
A second screen
Having two screens is super helpful and if you travel you’ll have to brings yours with you. This screen is thin and light as well as not being too expensive and having decent color accuracy. It can be powered by 1 Usb-C cable so with the right cable it can get display info and power from the same cable.
Usb-C Cable
So lets get some of those right cables!
You’ll want a short one for your monitor. This one is right angled so it fits very nicely against your computer.
Monitor Magnet
Ok so you have two screens and a cable! Now you can be twice as productive. But what if your table doesn’t have room for two screens? Well, you can attach your 2nd screen to your laptop with a really strong magnet.
Laptop Stand
You want your laptop to be eye level for long term work. So you need a stand that is sturdy but light and small.
Keyboard with backlight
You can use a keyboard without, but having a backlight really helps you work in environments that don’t have a lot of light or late at night without bothering other people.
Mouse - Ergonomic
When you use a mouse all day, you want one that’s ergonomic so your wrist can be aligned correctly and not cause issues. This logi one is ergonomic, accurate, and has great battery life.
Extension Cable & Charger
This cube from Anker is perfect for giving you an extension cord AND giving you 3 USB charging ports in a tiny cube. I use two of them so I always have enough to charge all my things.
Headset
A lot of people get by with the apple earbud headphones or a bulky headset but I prefer this one because the microphone is right near your mouth making it like a headset but taking up the space of some tiny earbuds.
Bluetooth can give you a low quality mic and sometimes drops. I vastly prefer a cheap wired version.
Multi-use Charging Cables
Don’t carry a bag of cables when just a couple will work for all your devices.
I love the retractable versions so I’m less likely to end up with a ball of knotted together wires.
(Optional) Macbook Charger with extra ports
When traveling a lot and walking around, every ounce can become annoying. So in the multi use theme, I love having a powerful macbook charger that also has some extra charging ports. So I only need to take up one outlet to charge all my things.
